Mass ECAN Fall 2023 Series
Thanks for a great field trip season that focused on exemplary climate change adaptation and watershed collaboration. These events are organized by Mass ECAN, the MA Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Program, the MA Division of Ecological Restoration, local project partners and watershed collaboratives.

Ipswich River Dam Removal, Ipswich- 9/7 at 11:00am - 12:30pm (rain date 9/11)
Learn about community engagement, climate adaptation and ecological benefits related to the Ipswich Mill Dam Removal and nearby green infrastructure projects. This field trip included an optional paddle with IRWA which was beautiful! Hosted in partnership with the Ipswich River Watershed Association and the PIE-Rivers Partnership.

Mystic River Boat Tour, Charlestown - 10/13 at 10:00am - 12:00pm
Charter boat tour of the Lower Mystic covering a variety of local resilience projects addressing extreme heat and flooding and emphasizing community engagement. Hosted in partnership with the Mystic River Watershed Association and Resilient Mystic Collaborative.

Mattapoisett River Valley Field Trip - 10/24 at 10:00am - 12:00pm (Rain date 10/30)
On this trail walk, participants learned about the coordinated multi-town watershed land conservation efforts as well as a large wetland/stream ecological restoration project. These projects buffer flooding and drought, and enhance the resilience of a regionally important drinking water supply, fish/wildlife resources, outdoor recreation opportunities and local agriculture. Hosted in partnership with the Buzzards Bay Coalition and Watershed Restoration Partnership.
