Every month, we'll highlight someone in our community of practice so you can learn about the variety of adaptation work going on and "meet" a new colleague!
Christa Collins
Director of Land Protection
 Sudbury Valley Trustees (SVT)

Bio: Christa joined SVT in 2002 and now serves as Director of Land Protection. She provides assistance to landowners seeking to protect their land, and she manages land protection projects from inception through final transaction. Christa holds a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College and a master’s degree in landscape architecture from the University of Michigan.

Climate change adaptation project she's currently excited about: Using climate and resilience data from UMass and the Nature Conservancy, SVT assessed the land in its 36-community region to identify the undeveloped parcels that are "most worthy" of protection. Christa and her team can now focus their efforts on protecting those lands that should be resilient enough to survive dramatic changes in climate: parcels with complex landforms and soils as well as varied geology and topography, all of which enable these properties to provide habitat for numerous species of native plants and animals.
