Member Spotlight
Every month, we highlight someone in our community of practice so you can learn about a variety of adaptation work and "meet" a new colleague!

Julianne Busa, PhD
Senior Resilience Scientist
Fuss & O’Neill

Bio: Julie works with municipalities to develop, fund, and implement cutting edge projects that improve communities' capacity to respond to changing climate conditions, as well as the needs of their most climate-vulnerable populations. She focuses on nature-based approaches to climate resiliency, stormwater and watershed management, and stream and wetland restoration. She also co-leads our Mass ECAN Slow the Flow Work Group. Julie is a self-proclaimed ‘Beaver Believer’ (believing in the value of working with beavers for flood resilience), and an avid gardener whose ¼ acre yard features 100+ species and two hand-built rain gardens.

Climate adaptation project
As a certified MVP provider and co-lead of Fuss & O'Neill's MVP practice, Julie has worked with over two dozen communities on a variety of MVP Planning and Action Grant projects including the Little River Dam Removal project in Haverhill; development of a beaver management approach for Belchertown; Town-wide culvert assessments for 6 communities; wetland and floodplain restoration projects in Belchertown, South Hadley, Brockton, and Andover; and development of a City-Wide Green Infrastructure Master Plan and Cherry Street pilot project in her hometown of Easthampton.
